PROJECT OVERVIEW
Nestled in the heart of Orange County, the treasured historic Floral Park neighborhood is home to this charming 1930s residence. We thoughtfully expanded its footprint—allowing for a more functional kitchen and an upstairs bathroom that honors the home’s original character while embracing modern-day living.
Striking the balance between contemporary functionality and historic integrity required meticulous space planning and material selection.

PROJECT CHALLENGES
While brimming with charm, the original 1930s kitchen and bathroom had seen better days. Years of wear and tear left them cramped, outdated, and far from functional. Expanding the footprint was essential—not only to restore beauty but also to create a space where the homeowners could truly live and enjoy.

PROJECT RESULTS
The new kitchen is designed to be spacious and highly functional while remaining true to the home’s architectural roots. Custom details add warmth and character—like a walnut hood with brass inlay, marble open shelving with brass rods, and a thoughtfully designed dining nook featuring a custom walnut and brass table paired with a leather banquette.
A mosaic-style tile backsplash and a vintage-inspired milk glass light fixture make the new bar area a standout feature.
Upstairs, the newly expanded bathroom was an exercise in creativity + timeless design. A layered tile palette including different shapes, textures and colors for the wainscot, border, baseboard, shower, and floors and floor border all play off of one another. The organic movement of the floral wallpaper balances the geometry in the tile.
Brass accents—including a curved shower rod and vintage-inspired plumbing + lighting fixtures—lend warmth and sophistication, while thoughtfully selected trim details, switch covers, and hardware ensure the space feels effortlessly integrated with the rest of the home.
