Who We Are

Founder / Principal Designer

Thanks for your interest in Sloan Co. Design. We are a Southern California-based interior design studio working primarily with residential clients in Orange County communities. Some of our favorite communities are Villa Park, Fullerton, Cowan Heights, Orange, Tustin, Floral Park and the like!

Our approachable team works collaboratively with our clients to ensure their home authentically reflects their personal goals, values, and lifestyle. Well-planned, efficient processes and clear communication are top priorities in our firm, where it’s quite literally all about the details.

I'm Amanda Sloan, the owner and principal designer here at Sloan Co. With an architect for a father and an interior designer for a mother, I’ve lived, worked and played in this space my entire life. With a business background and degree, I know the importance of delivering projects that exceed our clients’ design expectations while maintaining their budget goals.

When you onboard with us, you’ll meet Jackie Blankenship, the organizational authority of the firm whose smile and “can do” attitude are contagious. Along with Jackie, you’ll meet other colleagues who all work to guide our clients seamlessly through each design decision until the very last detail is realized. Success to us is when a client and their family can’t wait to welcome friends and neighbors into their sacred space, home.

Our Detailed Approach

Six-Phase Process

There are a million details that come to life during the course of any design project, so we’ve broken our process down into 6 phases so that we can seamlessly move through your project life cycle. Review our design process below so that you know what you can expect when you hire Sloan Co Design, as your full-service design firm.

1

Project Onboarding +
Architectural Review

We begin by working in tandem with your architect and builder to make sure that your design goals and ideals are successfully integrated into the architectural plans. We provide feedback and recommendations on your floor plans and elevations, placing emphasis on understanding how you and your family live. We also determine a budget, because we know every client has one!

2

Design Conception
We get to know you and your aesthetic extensively in this phase through questionnaires and an interview. Additionally, we review all of your collected inspiration, collect our own inspiration and present you with an overall vision for your home including colors, tones, textures, and in some cases, a glimpse into the materials that are inspiring the spaces we’re designing with you.

3

Finishes Design +
Material Procurement
During this phase we select interior and exterior finishes, specifying trade finishes like plumbing and lighting fixtures, tile, countertops, flooring, wall and window treatments, ceiling treatments, cabinetry, hardware and millwork. The list is long and we check a lot of boxes here!

4

Specification Book +
Design Oversight

When design elements are approved, we create an extensive Specification Book that is provided to your build team. It is referenced heavily on your project site to ensure design intent is realized throughout the build. We complete several job-walks through this phase to answer questions and problem solve with your builder and their trades. We focus on being the first line of defense to every contractor question so that you can breathe easy while we take care of the nitty gritty details.

4

Furniture Design +
Procurement
With construction underway, we move forward with the furniture and styling aspects of your project. We select upholstered furniture, cased goods, accessories, artwork, rugs, bedding, and pillows that speak to your style and aesthetic. We think through the flow and placement of every item, from the anchor pieces of furniture, to the finishing touches. Where applicable, we custom design pieces or other elements to set your home apart and make your home authentically you. We procure all furnishing and styling elements and warehouse it until your project site is ready to receive your furnishings and final pieces.

6

Installation +
Welcome Home
When construction is complete, we work with our trusted installation team to transform what was once a construction site, into YOUR home!

Why We’re Different

We are proud of our track record in the Orange County interior design world, but there are plenty of design firms who can provide great design.

Here’s how we’re different:

We are approachable and we invite learning. Ask us anything, send us all the “I’m kind of afraid to ask this” questions.  We love what we do so we equally love diving into conversation about it. In turn, we here at Sloan Co. are constantly learning as new products and new build techniques funnel into the market.

We know how to plan and manage the design aspects of a construction project.  From the nitty gritty details to the big picture, we are process driven from start to finish.

We will incorporate your personal style into your home.  Afterall, we won’t live there, you will! And we want YOU to love coming home.

We are thorough and dependable. We will continuously keep you in the know about what’s happening in your project timeline and your project budget. We come to our clients with solutions, not problems.

Are you ready to work with a partner you can count on?
